Camargo Baptisms were found in a file at the University of Texas, in the Center for American History.  The data was a gift from the law firm of Judge K.C. Barkley and Lunn H. Cockrun to the San Jacinto Monument Museum.  These records were made available to the Law Firm in the 1930s.  For a while they rested at the San Jacinto Monument and when they passed to University of Texas they were made available to researchers.  From these records many hours were spent constructing an index and here is an example of the work.  Alma Guzman Cruz has been extracting the Camargo records and Debbie Gomez is extracting Reynosa, Tamaulipas records soon to be available.

The second book (by Alma Guzman Cruz) will be ready on March 30, 2002.  It will contain almost 29,000 baptisms from 1764 to 1888, extracted from the Sacramental records and the typewritten records mentioned above.

Herb Garza (member) is extracting the missing Camargo marriage records and will be available in the future.
